Meditation & Qi Gong

I teach meditation and mindfulness from my experience in the Zen and Insight traditions.

My practice and my training is very practical with an emphasis on how your to bring benefits of your meditation practice into your life: how to meet experience directly, how to relate to thoughts without being run by them, and how to build a steadier base for relationships and creative life.

Meditation is training: repeatable practices to strengthen attention over time, increasing your capacity for agency and choice, and experiencing more clarity and centredness in decision making. Over time, you can experience a deepening sense of agency in life and often in your creative work – staying present, clear and open even with the external pressures and inner stresses.

What we do

In sessions and groups we train:

  • Attention and stability: learning to be present and then stay present with what’s here
  • Relationship to inner narration: thoughts, self-talk, inner critic
  • Embodiment: learning to trust what’s happening in your body and learn how to value your experience as a reliable reference point rather than a problem or something to ‘fight’. We also work with Qi gong and movement practice as a direct route into embodied awareness. Qi gong is particularly useful when sitting practice feels abstract or inaccessible. It also helps release physical tension in muscles and joints, which frees up energy and focus.
  • Daily life: how practice actually shows up in behaviour

You don’t need to be “good” at meditation. You just need to be willing to practice.

Who this is for

  • Creatives and professionals who want a workable daily practice that can actually help them in life and in a creative world that can be tough on the mind and body
  • People who experience overthinking, perfectionism, or constant self-evaluation getting in the way of their decisions, impacting who they believe they can be and what they can do
  • Practitioners who want structure, clarity, and accountability

Our focus is practical training, inquiry, clarity.

Ways to practice with me

1:1 Practice Mentoring

A structured space to establish or deepen a meditation practice. We can work with:

  • designing a sustainable routine
  • navigating common obstacles (restlessness, doubt, avoidance, self-judgement)
  • integrating practice into creative work and daily decisions
  • specific situations where you’re finding a challenge – inner dialogue, specific emotional/physical issues, how to work with the power dynamics in the industry/your training program

Groups

Guided meditation and discussion/Q&A. A practice community with clear structure.

Workshops / Retreat Days

Half-day or day formats combining guided practice with applied inquiry.
(Offered periodically. Ask me for more information.)

Qi Gong: The Art of Moving Meditation

Movement-based practice as taught to me by Master Simon Blow, recognised by World Academic Society of Medical Qigong Beijing, Shanghai Qigong Research Institute China. Offered as standalone workshops and short courses — for beginners and for practitioners wanting to integrate movement with their existing practice.

(Ask me about current offerings.)

A Note for Creatives

If you’re an actor, writer, director, artist, maker/builder: meditation can be used as training for presence, clear seeing, and choice. The more you can be present in your experience, the more agency you have to bring your best work to the situation.

Training and orientation

My practice began in the Plum Village tradition and has been shaped by ongoing training in Zen and Insight lineages. I am currently undertaking teacher training in the Insight tradition with supervision and mentoring provided through the Insight Meditation Institute of Australia.
